It is smaller than a bay.

Surrounding it are houses of different designs and sizes, a local port, fish cages and ponds, a state university, sandy beaches, a yacht company, a government bureau, the municipal plaza and a vast stretch of mangroves, among others.

It is a source of living for fishermen. It is also a gentle sanctuary for boats and ships as it provides them ample shelter from the waves beyond.
